Purchasing Options for the APAS System

Thank you for your inquiry concerning the Ariel prices.  You can access the
Ariel prices on the Ariel internet site.  The direct address is:

www.arielweb.com/Main/adw-54.html

In general, the USA prices are as follows.

1.  Basic Ariel Performance Analysis System (APAS) software only.
Includes 2D and 3D software for automatic digitizing and panning cameras
Price:  $5,000.00

2.  Basic APAS
Includes: 500 MHz computer, 10 GB hard drive, 64 MB RAM, Multi-media and
DV frame grabbers, CD-ROM and all software in option 1 above.
Price:  $10,000.00

3. APAS-240
Includes everything in option 1 and 2 along with two digital camcorders
capable of 60/120 and 240 Hz video analyisis.
Price:  $17,500.00

4.  Also, with the purchase of any of the above systems, you can purchase
additional systems (software only) for $500 per computer.  This software
can be installed on your existing computers and used to analyze any data
collected with the "master" system.  This is a very useful feature,
especially in the University environment.

There are many other options that can be added to these systems as you can
see on the price list.

As you will find out, the Ariel systems provide many more capabilities and
at a fraction of the cost of any other available systems.  Please refer to
a 3rd party independent study comparing commercially available systems.
This is also published on our internet site at:

www.arielweb.com/topics/comparison/default.htm

Please contact us for any additional information.

Sincerely,

Ariel Dynamics, Inc.

Hello Susan,

Ariel Dynamics is curently using the JVC digital camcorders.  These cameras
have many advantages since they are battery operated and also support high
speed video analysis.  These cameras do have an S-Video (analog) output
that can be used with your current configuration only for 60 Hz analysis.
However, it is recommended to use the associated digital video hardware.
This includes the Digital Video (DV) capture card, DV cameras and Ariel
Software drivers.

The Digital Video capture card & software sells for $450

The JVC camera and software drivers for 60 & 120 Hz analysis sells for
$3,500 per camera.

The JVC camera and software drivers for 60/120 & 240 Hz analysis sells for
$5,000 per camera.

The Ariel software drivers are required to extract the high speed data from
the recorded images and is included in the prices listed above.

Please contact us for any additional information.

Sincerely,

John Probe

HI Tony,

Sorry about the delay.  In answer to your questions, this is the equipment I would suggest for a complete Orthopedic, Physical Therapy Clinic:

1. CES Arm/ Leg/  Back Unit
2. CES Multifunction Unit
3. APAS with Analog function
4. EMG/ on CES and APAS

All the above will be less than one Cybex.

The next step would be to add a force plate.  Gideon will handle pricing with you.

Now you have a complete laboratory capable of  (and I cannot think of all possibilities here):
1. Exercise rehabilitation (closed and open loop).
2. Rehab cardiac training.
3. Rehabilitation test and measurement (bilateral limb comparison).
4. Weight loss work training.
5. Precision athletic training for strength, explosive speed and endurance.
6. Biofeedback for sports and rehabilitation training.
7. Personal fitness and rehab training without the trainer being present (program and walk away, exerciser can take self through program.
8. With addition of APAS, precision measurement of performance for cervical spine, lumbar spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and total body gait.
9. Ground reaction forces for gait, sports actions, lift posture.
10. Sports performance evaluations for any sport, including equine.
11. Balance testing and training platform.
12. Dynamic EMG monitoring for Exercise and Performance events.
13. Back to work DELTA lift analysis capability.
14. Job site analysis, etc.

If your funds are limited, CES or APAS first depends on the needs of the clinic.  If primarily training and physical therapy, definitely CES.  If test and measurement orientated, definitely APAS.  However, you cannot beat the combination of tools.

As to report capability, each system has the ability to print any data that appears on the screen.  You can select and combine any combination of data, kinematic, kinetic, CES, etc. for presentation.

Further, you can do like I do, export the raw data and do a custom report on Excel or Matlab.  The advantage of this is that you can have a multi page report, customized, created and recreated in minimal time.  I can help you design these reports.

I am sure Gideon will address costs with you.  I can help you show the cost effectiveness of the equipment and how to get multi level return on your investment.

As I mentioned earlier, if you give me more feedback on the client, I can send you complete reports illustrating how we use the systems for various situations.

Hope this is a helpful start.  I am awaiting your next round of questions.  I am sure you will have many more.  Personally, I would love you to implement a system in SA so we can come back and visit.  I miss the Rock Lobster, Prawns and wine!

Bob

>I have some questions:
>1. Is it a separate module- can I buy it without video system?
>
Answer 1
========
We do not sell the Analog Module as a "stand-alone" module.  The Basic APAS
is required for complete analog operation.  In order to sample analog data,
one would require the following APAS items.

Basic APAS (Hardware & Software) $10,000
Analog Hardware $7,500
Analog Software $1,500
============================
Total $19,000.00 USD

However, Dr. Ariel has agreed to reduce the price of the Basic APAS to
$7,500 (instead of $10,000) for your circumstances.  This means the total
would be $16,500.00 USD plus shipping charges.

The Ariel software provides extensive analysis capabilities including

Ariel Analog Module supports collection of analog data input.  AMTI,
Bertec and Kistler force platforms are supported with an additional
Real-Time COP and VECTORS programs. Force platform software also supports
two plates simultaneously.  EMG analysis software includes Normalization,
Rectification, Power Spectrum, Envelope, Spike, Integral, and Median and
Average frequency.  Data can be output to the printer, ASCII or Lotus/Excel
Worksheet files.

Additionally, you can download and/or view the Ariel Analog Software manual
from the Ariel internet site.  The direct address for viewing is:

Dan,

The AMTI force plate was delivered with Ariel software drivers.  You do not
need the Biosoft software to use the force plate with the Ariel system.
Just connect the 6 otput channels from the AMTI force plate to the Ariel 16
channel analog input box.  Then select OPTIONS, PLATE and AMTI in the Ariel
Analog module to configure the force plate parameters.  During the checkout
of your system, we already created a file named  AMTIXXXX (where XXX in the
serial number of your force plate).  I think your serial number is 4028.
