CapDV: APAS DV Capture Module
CapDV manages the simultaneous capture of up to 6 Digital Video (DV) cameras directly to a computer's hard disk. There is no need to
record to tape as the 6 camera's data is captured directly using the latest
standard in DV data transfer, the IEEE1394 "Firewire" or
"I-Link" interface.
CapDV manages automatically some of the
tedious chores associated with video data collection, the synching and trimming
the video sequences. The system uses an event recorded simultaneously with the
video on the audio tracks of all active cameras to synch the camera data. This
audio sync even can be part of the activity such as the impact with a ball or it
can be some clear event unrelated to the activity but clearly audible such as a
"clap" of the hands. Since the audio is collected at a very high rate,
the synching of the cameras can be determined to a small fraction of the actual
time between frames of the video.
All hardware components needed to use CapDV are standard, off the shelf components.
