INTERNAL/EXTERNAL ROTATION

18.1 INTERNAL/EXTERNAL INFORMATION   The Int/Ext program is a calculation module using trigonometric formulas that relate the upper arm to the lower arm. This application is intended specifically for baseball pitching applications. This module calculates rotational values of the upper arm (with respect to the shoulder) based on the position of the forearm.

18.2 ENTERING THE INT/EXT PROGRAM   The Int/Ext program is menu driven and selected from the Applications Option in the Main APAS Menu. A table will be displayed on the graphic monitor to select the Sequence For Analysis. The sequence can be selected using the mouse or by pressing the down arrow key.

18.3 PRINT RESULTS?   After selecting the sequence for analysis, the user is prompted with the Print Results Option Menu. Two options exist from this menu:

  1. View_Print is selected to view the results on the graphic monitor while simultaneously printing the results on the APAS printer.
  2. View_Only is selected to view the results on the graphic monitor.
18.4 RESULTS   The Internal/External Angle With Respect To The Shoulder results will be displayed on two graphs, one for the Right Arm and the second for the Left Arm. Each graph consists of three curves. The lowest curve plots the angle vs. time. The middle graph plots the angular velocity vs. time while the top graph plots the angular acceleration vs. time. Press the ENTER key to advance from the Right curve to the Left curve.
